Keep the denial connected to its next action
A denial workflow is easier to follow when the current state, next action, and owner are clear. Information requests, follow-ups, and appeals represent progress, but they do not necessarily mean the denial is resolved.
Make pending work visible
When a team is waiting for information or a payer decision, that work still needs visibility. A pending step should not cause the denial to disappear from the active workflow.
Treat resolution as an explicit decision
Define what resolution means for your operation, make the outcome clear, and close the loop deliberately. This guide is introductory information, not clinical, legal, or reimbursement advice.
